Sumycin is one of the better tetracycline antibiotics on the market. It intervers with the production of proteins that are required for the bacteria to grow and thus slows down their growth process which allows the body's immune system to eleminate the intruders quickly.
Sumycin has to be used according to your doctor's instructions which you had better follow precisely. The dosage and the quantity of pills per day is always determined by the consulting physician, but still there are some general recommendations. You should take Sumycin on an empty stomach followed by a full glass of water and stay on foot for the next 30 minutes. An empty stomach means that you must wait at least 2 hours after your last meal. You also have to refrain from eating anything in the next hour.
You should complete the whole treatment regimen before quitting Sumycin. Certainly, in a few days you shall already be feeling considerably better, but this does not mean the infection will be gone as such. If you happen to miss a dose, endeavor to take it as soon as it becomes possible. You can, however, skip it if the time is nearing for your next dose and merely return to your usual shedule. It is dangerous to take two doses at one go!
If you think you are pregnant, make sure you inform your physician before starting on a Sumycin course since this medication is, unfortunately, known to harm the fetus occasionally. Also, Sumycin infiltrates breast milk, so breast-feeding is out of limits when on this drug.
