Lexarpo is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, or, basically, an antidepressant. It affects the brain so as to restore the balance between chemicals there and thus eleminate depression and anxiety. This medication is used for severe depression and anxiety disorder treatment and is recommended to adolescents from 12 years old upwards and to adults.
When you start on a Lexarpo treatment regimen, please be aware that most antidepressants cause the disorder to gain momentum before their impact entrenches, and Lexarpo is no exception. At the first stages of therapy you may even have several suicidal thoughs, especially if you are not 24 yet. That is why your doctor will want to see you at least twice a week for the first three months of your treatment regimen at the very least. Your family should also be aware of these possible deteriorations in your emotional state so that they can alert the medical care if you turn to be unable to do it yourself.
Mood swings, irritability, fits of nervous agression, occasional restlessnes or hostility are expected when you first start taking Lexarpo, yet if these symptoms bother you too much, you should talk to your doctor. Also it is crucial to seek help if you have frequent spells of vertigo, dizziness, diarrhea, loss of appetite; if you feel rigid, your temperature is high, you are sweating and in tremors; if you develop memory problems and/or hallucinations. Such side effects are too serious and may mean that the medication has been chosen wrong.
