Flomax belongs to a drug group called alpha-adrenergic blockers. One of its purpose is to relax the human veins and arteries to help blood pass through them more easily. Flomax is also often used to help the benign prostatic hyperplasia patients with urination through relaxing the prostate and bladder neck muscles.
The side effects Flomax may cause disturb the patient's ways of thinking and reactions. It is strongly disadvised to indulge into activities that require full alertness. If you are taking considerable doses, it is normal to feel dizzy when you are getting up from a bed or a chair, so you must teach yourself to stand up slowly so as to avoid falling down. If, however, this feeling continues after you have already got up or in a sitting/lying state, stop taking the drug and contact your physician at once. Do the same if you have a painful erection that lasts for too long or if you have passed out for no reason. Note that consuming alcohol when on Flomax increases dissiness and other side effects.
If you are sheduled for a cataract surgery during the Flomax treatment regimen, warn your surgeon beforehand. Do not stop using the medicine on your own free will, but expect that in some cases the surgeon may instruct you to do so.
