Feldene is a brand name for piroxicam, one of the NSAIDs, ergo nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This medical preparation reduces hormons that cause any inflammation and/or pain in the human body.
Every patient must be aware of the fact that Feldene and other NSAIDs tend to increase the risk of severe heart and blood circulation problems that can lead to anything up to a heart attack or stroke. The danger grows in proportion with the length or the Feldene therapy term. If you have just had or are planning to have a coronary artery bypass graft surgery, refrain from taking Feldene at all. In some cases NSAIDs also increase the risk of serious gastrointestinal disorders, including internal bleedings and perforation of the stomach walls. These effects often occur without any warning and can prove to be fatal if the patient does not get help immediately. The older you get, the greater is the risk of such complications.
There are conditions which demant special tests to be passed before you can safely take Feldene, as well as a careful dose adjustment. They include various heart diseases (a history of heart attack or stroke, congestive heart failure, hypertension), stomach ulcers, liver and/or kidney conditions, asthma, nose polyps, blood clotting, internal bleedings. Feldene must also be used with great care in smokers.
